The Bottom Line In the words of the great "Lord of the Sith", AMD is impressive... MOST impressive.. But, we all must pay the piper and use Intel.
Long ago, in state far, far away...
The Imperial Empire of Intel
Long ago in twentieth century, PC life was born. A struggle of power initiated in the infamous “Clone Wars”. IBM, Apple and Microsoft battled for exclusive control of the galaxy. As one emerged victorious, Microsoft and the Dark Lord Gates, began their domination of the world.
Soon thereafter, a power was needed to generate this new construed world in Redmond, Washington. (By the way, Redmond translated in binary code flipped backwards and re-translated back into English; form the words “Death Star”.) Engines were needed. Another battle was formed. AMD, Cyrix, Intel and even the barbaric IBM began on their conquest to ally with the dominating force.
This “battle” was nothing less than a skirmish in an Elementary School playground. Intel bullied its foes like that sixth grader that started shaving at age 10. Microsoft quickly joined forces with Intel, thus becoming the Imperial Empire. Please remember when choosing a CPU, that the two are one. I will explain further my reasoning.
The Rebel Scum called AMD
In any establishment controlled by singular groups, varied parties emerge. These parties are non-conformists by nature, and classified as rebels. These “rebels” have what they think; a better mousetrap. They form in underground groups, proud of what they are, but avoiding the Dark Side of the Empire and its influences.
The Rebel group of AMD, have done test after test, proving that they are far superior and that the masses have been led like cattle to the slaughter. Their tests prove that they are the true champions, and their way should be what dictates normality. The AMD Rebels ponder around campfires and wonder why the automatons cannot see the light… the force that holds all things together… the Holy Grail… the Athlon…
Trying to convince the public that they have what everyone else wants (speed), they sneak into reviews controlled by the masses… they infiltrate Senator Ziff-Davis and his publications, and they discretely slip their CPU into unsuspecting cheap-o PCs.
Sith Lord Search66 and his pondering the ponderings
What is really going on here my friends? Do you want the bottom line? Well, sit tight and the answer will be shown to you.
Look at the statistics. Look at the benchmarks. AMD consistently produces higher scores. AMD always benchmarks at least 10% higher than an Intel chip. And what is even more surprising is that it is anywhere from 25% to 50% cheaper for the same “performance”.
Why then is Intel the industry standard. Why isn’t AMD shipped in every personal computer? Why isn’t AMD not in any servers throughout the business world? Let's look at the analogy of Star Wars to find the answer.
Politics, my friend… Politics.
Don’t under-estimate the POWER of the Dark Side
Yes. Intel and Microsoft are on the Dark Side of the Force. This said, who is partnering with the Rebel scum of AMD? Have you ever thought of that? Linux? Hah. That silly penguin couldn't save a rubber ducky drowning in a bathtub.
Let me put this into rebel terms. Intel and Microsoft have been in bed together for 15 years now. Consider Microsoft to be the evil Emperor. And then take Intel to be Darth Vader. What we have here is that Intel is subjugated to Microsoft’s will.
This is an untold story, but more true than you can imagine. Extreme as I might sound, I truly believe Intel and Microsoft put hard coding in the hardware/software that they co-exist and work well together. I am convinced that there is something in Microsoft’s operating systems that rejects, albeit discrete, the hard coding deep within AMD’s chipset.
What this means is initial results seem to favor AMD, but in the long run stability far out weighs the lack of performance Intel brings. Just as the child-hood story about the “tortoise and the hare”, stability and consistency will win in the long run.
Twisted as it might be, and as unfair as it is, Intel and Microsoft are the best of friends and nothing will get in the way of their Empire. Although in Star Wars the rebels win; in this war the Empire will exist forever.
Back to Reality
The bottom line here in a nutshell is that Intel and Microsoft work hand in hand with each other. Don’t be fooled by price and initial performance issues. It is an easy thing to do. As unethical as my approach may be, I have been in the IT field for far too long and have seen the results of third party processors. Yes, AMD is a third party. Our country runs off of Microsoft backed servers. What powers Microsoft is what powers the world. Intel.
