Multiplayer = everyone is gone playing the new MMO beta so its single player anyway w/ a monthly payment. Single player = i like watching the movies and story line not really playing the game. I LOVE Xenosaga and its 1 hour long CG story bits. Too bad i sold my PS2 for cash during hard times cause Xenosaga 2 is coming out
.

Bah no i wasn't saying to play DOOM 3 in Multiplayer is something you had to pay for.
The only thing i play thats multiplayer, anyway, are MMOs cause I never have a "unique" serial for any of the First person shooter games(UnrealT,etc) i download. Can't play on an online server w/o a unique key.

It is time for you people to buy this game. Sucking != true.
It is a very frightening game at first, but you get used to it after a while and become a Mindless Death-Dealing Columbine Masta-Pimp (tm).
I haven't tried multiplayer yet myself--I intend to finish single player before I subject myself to the sociopathic onslaught I am sure to encounter online.
As for the technical side I won't bother listing the features of the game's engine or anything else overly technical, in terms of graphics, since you can read all that shit online or on the back of the box. One thing I will mention is that the quality settings are highly customizable. I especially like the part about the highest quality setting requiring 500MB of texture memory. Myself, I run the game on high (second highest quality setting) at 1024x768 with 4x anti-aliasing enabled and it is as smooth as glass. I tried pushing anti-aliasing up to 8x and it started to get a bit choppy.
If you've ever played any of the previous Doom series then you'll appreciate this game as a full-on action fps which has a definite "Doom feel." There is mention of a plot in the game although it's somewhat hard to notice between all the disintigrating corpses, cleaved body parts, and hellspawn--then again, this game isn't meant to be purchased for a gripping, suspenseful story line.
To sum it up so far: the game is full of heart pounding combat sequences which bring back memories of afternoons spent blowing demons way the fuck up while hopped up on Jolt Cola, and then peeling yourself out of the chair which has partially bonded to your ass.
It's been far too long since there was a good fps out there and so far I think this one has the potential to revive the genre. Who knows for sure though, multi-player could be crap for all I know right now, but I doubt that will be the case. Start honing your skills now, if anyone jumps on the bandwagon you will need them in multi

From the little that I have played (2 hours or so in) I have to agree with Norf. Initially I was not that impressed with the graphics and the textures, but the more you play the better they get until they are just mind blowing.
I am also playing on high at 1280x1024.
As far as you getting use to the scariness of the game, I am not use to it yet. I get freaked out after playing it for about 30 min. Hopefully my pussiness will subside so I can play longer sessions.
