WoT ftw!
Seeing as I don't have access to the book club, I want to offer further proof the WoT is better than Fire and Ice series. And I'll post it here.

I've not read F&I... but WOT is pretty much awful after book 3-4, I used the books to fall asleep for about 3 months... about 8-10 pages did it even if I was wide awake.

I don't think that 221 voters is an acceptable pool from which to state that horrible overly-detailed uneventuful literature is better than an entertaining book series with unique characters.
Re: WoT ftw!
People still use "ftw"?
I am only a quarter of the way into book 2 of the Malazan series and it already surpasses WoT. The jury is out on whether it is better than ASOIAF. If GRRM keeps taking so fucking long to release new books, Malazan may win by default.

I reject any poll that has Lemony Snicket in the top 5, and Harry Potter at #1.

I hate to break it to you, but Harry Potter deserves that spot, exceeding even LOTR in introducing new readers to the fantasy genre. It may not be my favorite series (neither is LOTR) but I respect it's place at the top of an all-time list. It easily makes my top 10, maybe even top 5.

That's like calling Barney one of the top 5 shows ever because it introduces people to TV.

I can live in a world in which Harry Potter (in book form) is ranked higher than LOTR (in book form).
I do not, however, believe that it is the Best Fantasy Ever; I especially do not believe that Lemony Snicket is better than Star Wars.
