YES going out to get a copy, allthough I have all the paperbacks the hard cover would mess up my collection. but I cannot wait for the paperback to come out.

So, I guess you don't agree with my statement that paperbacks don't make a collection? It may just be me, then. I just don't consider myself "collecting" a set of books unless I am getting the hardbacks.

I have a hodge-podge of WoT books in paperback and hardback. I try to pick up hardbacks to replace the paperbacks whenever I see a good deal on them. Similarly, I have Asimov's foundation trilogy in paperback because that is how I read them the first time. That didn't stop me from buying the original hardback print when I saw it.

My point being that I never considered waiting for a paperback to come out solely to keep my collection in that form. I would buy the hardback and keep an eye out for replacing the others.

I wait for paperbacks if I am looking to save money.

Its not a collection if you don't have the leather bound, gold trimmed editions. /huggles my never opened collection of harry potter books.

I also made a point to get the first editions/first printing of all the WoT books to make up my collection as well as the first edition/first printing UK versions of aSoFaI, but I do think one can have a collection and not hold to the same ideals as us.

That makes two of us... I just got hit with a Faile chapter jab followed by a Mat chapter uppercut. I would have reversed those since really any female PoV chapter is worse than any male PoV chapter, but then my analogy wouldn't have made sense. Err as much sense.

I mean, you don't uppercut someone and then jab them. Unless you are Robert Jordan.

I don't consider myself collecting a set of books unless I have the author's original notes and Word documents printed and annotated by them, their wives, and the editor.
