Actually, I wouldn't put it beyond these bots to parse unique form fields and try different combinations. In this case, my Turing test was just a boolean yes/no value, too easy to brute force. I'll implement a better one, with some actual quizzes i.e.: "What country is located north of the USA?"

Of course, that question will rule out half of the Texan population, but oh well, what do you know.

It's a very standard CAPTCHA, included in all releases of phpBB, so they made a very standard OCR in response. It still filters out one bot out of two, but there are so many of these motherfuckers out there.
