Planned terrorist attack!

The United States fears al Qaeda is plotting a big attack in this country but has no plans to raise the terror threat level and no details on when, where or how it might occur, officials said on Wednesday.

Is anyone else really fucking tired of this? Unless they have substantial information, why don't they just go ahead and keep this bullshit to themselves?
"They want to do something spectacular," one federal law enforcement official said referring to al Qaeda.
No shit? Are you sure? I mean, I thought they wanted to do something mediocre. I am glad you get paid to make assessments like that.

How about everytime you pick up some increased chatter, you just tell people who can actually do something about it. I dunno, like the police. While increased public awareness is great and all, I doubt Habib appreciates it when Billy-bob phones the police every time he parks his car at the airport. Not to mention the fact that after so many "false alarms", the public awareness eventually goes down.

I am not sure if this is a tactic implemented by Bush to increase votes or if this is the media being themselves and blowing offhand comments out of proportion. However, I am sure that I groan every goddamn time I see a news article like the one above... which is about 2-3 times a month it seems.

Edit: Oh and if Bush wants to lose my vote, hyping this shit through November is a surefire way to do it. I will vote democrat just so it will fucking stop.

It is an unfortunate consequence of being the world's only superpower. I am sure if Canada had anything worth bombing, you all would be suffering the same security problems we are.

I know I am really fucking tired of hearing about it. I am even more tired of people who are worried about it. Its not like we would be able to prepare for anything they have in mind as individuals. Even if they know an exact date, time, and place, what the fuck do they expect us to do other then freak out. Not to mention the fact that chances are terrorist have access to the exact same news sources we do.

I am sure most Americans would be very concerned if we knew everything that goes on behind the scenes in regards to world politics. Some things are just better if the public doesnt know about them. Bush lost my vote years ago. Well I guess he never lost it, since he never had it to begin with.

At least there was a bit more information this time. It does make sense for al-qaida to try something before the election given their success in swaying Spain's.

I also propose a third agenda for these common terror threat announcements. Given the shit the CIA, FBI, and administration are getting from the 9/11 panel, can you blame them for covering their ass? They kept all the "little" shit to themselves before 9/11 and now every minute tip is blowing up in their face.

Personally, I think what could have been done to prevent 9/11 was done. I would prefer all that shit to continue to be withheld from the public. Like phelps said, it can only cause a panic.

edit:

I will also go on the record to say it is all still bullshit. You know there is some PR panel that determines how best to release this kind of information to put Bush in the best light. I know it is hard, but stop worrying about the goddamn election and worry about protecting the country. This exploitation of sensitive information is really what swung the popular vote in Spain, not the attacks. Expect a similar reaction here and, without even attacking us, al-qaida will have determined another election.

At this point, I'm just praying Bush doesn't do any more really fucking idiotic things before we can boot his ass out of there.

BTW, if he does manage to get re-elected, is there room in Canada for me or is it all full up? I mean, seriously, if a majority of Americans are willing to vote for him after everything he and his cronies have done to ruin this country, we deserve all the derision we get from outside the U.S.

I live in Idaho, so I know I'd just be throwing my vote away, but at this point I don't care.

The problem is that John Kerry is such an uncharismatic retard that I am almost forced to vote for Bush (or abstain...). Also, I could really care less about what everyone outside the U.S. thinks, they don't affect my vote at all.

If it was up to them the U.S. would just give them all of its money (import everything) and send our troops only where the U.N. tells us.

Really, when you boil it down, every country has a vocal majority of retards. I don't see where their opinion of Bush is any more valid than the retards here.

The only foreign policy change I would like to see is towards China. They are going to be the next superpower and it sure would be nice to have a friend to share the title with rather than an enemy. They reached a hand out to us when they started their space missions and we slapped it away like a kindergartner jealous of his toy. Of course, I believe the space program would be high on Kerry's list of shit to cut, so that bridge is likely to stay burned.

It's a good thing our media shows, almost anything bad Bush does, and about 1% of the good things he does. If it makes the Bush administration seem even remotely competent, you won't see it in the media. It's hard for me to believe there has ever been a president who the media hated more.

Don't even get me started on CNN. If I have to look at one of their ridiculously biased polls again, I am going to cut somebody.

I voted for Bush in 2000 and I will not be voting for him in the fall, but at the same time I will not be voting for Kerry either.

Bush has pissed me off too much, and Kerry is so fucking sleazy looking at him makes me feel dirty, and -not- in the same way that Phelps feels dirty looking at Hillary Duff.
